Most Successful Project This is the only project that I am walking away from this Class and really thinking that I would want to put on my wall. When I say that I mean this is the only project I feel actually looks somewhat good. I think that I used good color with the pumpkins and that they look 3d. In my opinion this is the best piece of art that I have done. There is shading and highlights everywhere. Where the pumpkins overlap I made sure that it was darker so it didn't look like one whole pumpkin. There was one pumpkin that was just the bottom of it and I made it darker to show that it was the bottom. I think that the pumpkins shape look normal, I even tried to show where the pumpkin went in and out to show the texture and depth of the pumpkin. When I first started this project I never thought in a million years that I would ever walk away with a piece that I was proud of because I was scared of shading with different colors other than orange. Once I got over that fear I showed myself that I could do it and that it was possible to walk away with something that I was proud of. That's why I think this project was most successful. Least Successful Project I think that my least successful project out of this year would be my clay food. I really was trying to do something fun and I really wanted it to come out good and it just didn’t. When I first started this project I wanted it to be an ice-cream cone with ice-cream coming out of it; in my head it seemed like a good idea. Once I started to try to make the cone I saw that trying to role it into a cone shape wouldn’t be as easy as I thought it would be so I started to think what else to do. I still wanted to do the ice-cream so I did an ice-cream cup with a pumpkin on top because I wanted to show that is was pumpkin ice-cream. Once I finished the ice-cream up I saw that it needed something more so I made little pumpkin shaped cookies. When they got fired and came out we were told that we could paint them or glaze them. I thought glazing them would be good because I wanted it to shinny but it didn’t come out how I wanted it to come out. The cup part came out with white still showing threw and the ice-cream didn’t look like ice-cream at all. I think that if I would have painted the ice cream then it would look more like ice cream and not so much like a cupcake. Two Projects That Helped You Grow The two projects that I feel like helped me grow as an artist would have to be the perspective drawing that we did and also the painting that we did were we got an artist and we had to paint a picture in their style of painting. I think that artist drawing helped me out because he paints a story but he does is in a very different way. The way that he paints is with objects and the objects don’t always have to be circles or squares but around each object there was always a defined black line around the object. The line was sometimes thick and sometimes not. This project helped me understand that just because you don’t see something right off the bat doesn’t mean that there isn’t a meaning or a story behind something. Everything has some sort of meaning; you just have to look for it. I think that the perspective drawing helped me grow as an artist because I didn’t even know what 2 and 3 point perspective drawing were until this class. It showed me that there was still so much to learn about how and how many different ways you can make things. This projects made me want to grow as an artist and make learn new things and try different things. They showed me that things aren’t as hard as they seem at first; you just have to try. Two Mini Lessons That Helped You GrowThe two mini lessons that I think helped me with the final projects that we did were the mix media practice and the perspective drawing that we did of the school. I think that both of these projects helped me with other projects because I learned a lot from them. With the mix media project I learned that not everything has to go together for it to make sense. I made a story out of a cut up face and make up; showing that you can change everything about your appearance with just a little bit of make-up. I liked learning that it's okay to do what you want as long as it makes sense some how or some way. I think it helped me grow and be more willing to try new stuff. I think the perspective drawing of the school helped me out because it gave me a chance to try different things out so that with the final project of perspective could actually look somewhat good. It was nice to really understand what I was doing and it's different than just drawing objects because with this you kind of have to make a whole picture for it to really look good. Favorite MediumMy favorite medium to work with would have to be regular colored pencils. It was the first thing that I started out with in art one and I feel like I have gotten a lot better at shading with the pencil. It is easier to make the object have highlights and how heavy to hold down the pencil and how to move the pencil to get the right shape. I love shading with a regular pencil because it is so much easier to use and to make it darker or lighter. With colored pencil you can add shading but you have to use different colors and with painting you have to do the same thing. I think that I like colored pencil drawing better because it’s what I understand the most and I’m not scared to try to draw something with a colored pencil because you can always erase something that doesn’t look good and try again. I think that with pencil you can start light and get darker but if you go too dark then you can fix it and I like that. I like knowing that it's okay to mess up a little bit and know that I can fix it. With any other medium really you can't do that.
